The Museum of Natural Science has produced a new guide funds and collections, based on the principles of the documentary level description of collections or Collection Level Description gallery of regrettable food (CLD).
Museums are challenged (and duty) to document all funds that guard and make them available to the public and the scientific community. gallery of regrettable food Therefore, documentation and dissemination of funds and collections is one of the main tasks carried out by Museum curators and technicians.
This year, the Museum of Natural gallery of regrettable food Science has produced a guide of funds and collections, based on the principles of the documentary level description of collections or Collection Level Description (CLD). The aim of the project is to make available to citizens and researchers a tool to facilitate access and consultation gallery of regrettable food of its funds, and at the same time use it as a tool to support internal management collections . For the description of funds and collections used metadata schema called Natural Collection Description gallery of regrettable food (NCD) standard designed and promoted by the Biodiversity Information Standards (TDWG).
This standard allows us to describe a collection of natural science, a description of the set, where the only requirement is that it is a group of items that have something in common. This allows you to create collections of files on various common criteria, such as: historical criteria, the taxonomic, geographic, ecological, type of collection, gallery of regrettable food etc.. Conservative criteria that allow chips to create or technical emphasis or highlight what is important for both the scientific community and for other audiences.
- Full description: to obtain a description of all the collections in a reasonable time, compared to traditional gallery of regrettable food documentation (item to item). While the latter is still needed for scientific inquiries
- Overview.: Gives an overview of the state of the collections, acts as a diagnostic tool that lets you draw a picture of the state of each collection and plan courses of action, both Conservative gallery of regrettable food and institutional level.
Currently working on the validation of the tabs collection so you can incorporate them gradually to this new guide line and collections of the Museum. Be consulted in Catalan, Spanish and English.
